All-Pro Frederick out for months, Yankees’ injury woes continue

When all their players are healthy the Dallas Cowboys have the most respected offensive line in football.  But they suffered a major blow when  All-Pro center Travis Frederick revealed that the neck pain he’s been suffering was caused by an autoimmune disease known (to the extent it’s known at all) as Guillain Barre Syndrome.  He’s expected to be out until November, at least.  Discouraging news for Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott and anyone who has them in a Fantasy league.

The New York Yankees have sagged recently (5-4) due in large measure to injuries to All-Star right fielder Aaron Judge (missing for a month with fractured wrist), Gary Sanchez (disabled with strained groin since July 24), starting pitcher CC Sabathia (out since Aug. 13 with right knee inflammation).

Sanchez may be just a week away from returning to action, and Sabathia is set to start Friday night in Baltimore.

But this week the Yankees added All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman and All-Star shortstop Didi Gregorius to the disabled list.  Chapman expected to miss at least 2 weeks with a sprained knee, while Gregorius rehabs a swollen left heel.

Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox continue to run away with the American League East, but their one concern is Chris Sale, who was on track for his first Cy Young award before he went to the disabled list, with shoulder tendinitis, for the second time this season.  

The team is hoping a shot of cortisone will make him pain-free and allow him to start again within two weeks.  Boston’s rotation apart from Sale has an ERA of 4.00.
